Competition background

We were proud to be selected as one of only five kart tracks from the United Kingdom to be a qualifying centre for a national competition held by EasyKart UK. We had to select the best five drivers from our Junior Open GP Championship and they would progress to the national final where each driver would be assessed on a variety of things from driving ability to presentation in a day long assessment.

And the winner of the 2013 ” Win an Easykart Cadet kart” was Harry Graham from Leamington Spa !

Harry aged 10 wins a brand new Easykart Cadet and free membership and entry fees to the 2014 Easykart Championship.

Harry started karting at his local indoor track “Mr Karting” at Leamington Spa and now takes part in their Junior Kart Club and is leading the  Junior Open Grand Prix Series.

Each driver had two track sessions at Whilton Mill in an Easykart Cadet in which Easykart boss Andy Cox and works ACR Birel driver Danny Cruttenden assessed their on track performance.

Fellow Easykart boss John Vigor then interviewed each driver gaining further information about their karting experience, interests and even down to their favourite meal !

All the drivers improved from session 1 to session 2 and all gave fantastic interviews …… but there could only one winner and Harry Graham showed a dramatic improvement from his first on track session and indeed some real talent in racing lines, kart control and speed for his first real time on a big circuit like Whilton Mill International.

Big Al’s thoughts…

When i found out the news of Harry’s win, i was extremely proud of him and what he had achieved, especially when you consider that most of the other qualifying tracks were outdoor tracks. My worry was that with his limited ‘outdoor racing’ experience it would put him and our other qualifying drivers at a disadvantage, but no he acquitted himself well throughout the day and set some impressive times especially in his second session in the karts. I would also like to congratulate the other  drivers from our circuit, who the organiser of the event, informed me that they all did an excellent job on the day and were a credit to themselves and Mr Karting.
